Genc Mbrati, the owner & founder of NGM Carpentry, grew up in rural Albania. He moved to Greece when he was 16 years old to complete his education and where he supported himself by working with a local cabinetmaker. Under the tutelage of a master woodworker, he learned the trade in the old style where everything was done by hand. It was in Greece where he became skilled at hand carving. Genc immigrated to the United States in 1993, and continued to work as a cabinetmaker with some of the best-known shops in New York City. His talents were always recognized quickly and he would invariably be given greater responsibility and the most difficult purchase orders to complete. After several years of working for other companies, he thought it was time to open a shop of his own which he did in 1998. The business grew and after a few years it was time to take on a partner to continue the expansion. The obvious choice was one of his own skilled cabinetmakers working in the shop.

Nick Makaj, began working as a cabinetmaker 15 years ago after immigrating to the United States from Albania. He learned the trade quickly and became skilled in all aspects of wood working. His attention to detail and thoughtful approach to building cabinetry has earned him great respect from architects, contractors as well as his colleagues in the trade. Now a partner at NGM Cabinetry, Nick is in charge of production while Genc, proficient in AutoCAD, does shop drawings, some design work and the procurement of the highest quality materials available.

Together their complimentary competencies in the trade make them virtually unmatched in their ability to deliver finely crafted woodwork to their clients.
